In honor of Trans Ova’s 40th Anniversary, we have asked team members to reminisce about their time with Trans Ova and what they are excited about for the future.
This week's team member spotlight to celebrate Trans Ova Genetics’ 40th Anniversary is Holly Molina. In her 17 years, Holly has been a traveling embryologist, a the IVF lab embryologist and now is a Research Technician in our Sioux Center, IA center.
1. What is your favorite Trans Ova memory?
When I was traveling with Dr. Funk, we ran out of gas on the interstate somewhere in Illinois. Daryl could see a gas station across a corn field. He told me stay in the vehicle while he walked to the gas station to get fuel. While I was waiting, a cop car pulled up behind me. The officer asked what the problem was to be stopped in this area of the interstate. I told him we ran out of fuel and I was waiting for coworker to come back from gas station. The officer tells me how dangerous it is for a young lady to be sitting on interstate by herself and gives me a ride to the gas station. The look on Daryl’s face when I come pulling up in the cop car was priceless! And to hear Daryl explain to the cop why he left me in the vehicle. OH, and Daryl had a gas can in the vehicle because this might not have been the first time he ran out of fuel while traveling to the next client.
2. What do you like best about your time at Trans Ova?
Oh, the places you will go with …. Technology. Working with Trans Ova I have met some amazing people (including my husband) and traveled to places I never thought possible. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities Trans Ova has provided.
3. What excites you about the future of Trans Ova?
Technology! Working with beef and dairy producers helping them produce higher genetic animals for their herds. Agriculture as a whole is under a great amount of pressure to produce more product with less. At Trans Ova we can use our reproductive technologies to make that goal a reality.
4. In what different ways has Trans Ova excelled or grown in the last 40 years?
The technology at Trans Ova has grown exponentially. When I started at TOG traveling to different ranches, flushing and freezing embryos, I thought this is pretty amazing. Now we are shipping embryos in incubators all across the US, doing OPU’s on farm, and cloning animals just to name a few of our technologies. NOW that is pretty amazing!
